Description

Farro, known as the “Mother of all wheat” was so important to the Roman legion that it was sometimes used as currency. This ancient Mediterranean whole grain was and is still a staple food prized not only for its taste but also for its nutritional value. High in protein and fiber, it is very easy to digest and can be enjoyed in a number of ways.
Alessi Four Cheese Farro begins with delicious, nutty flavor, ancient grain farro. To the farro, we add a blend of four favorite Italian cheese including Parmesan, Romano, Asiago, and Provolone resulting in gastronomic delight. With a quick twenty minute cooking time, this hearty dish satiates hunger pangs and offers a pleasing texture. Use as a side dish or as a base for a one bowl meal.

Additions:

1 3/4 cups water
1 Tbsp. butter 

Cooking Directions:

1. In a large saucepan with a tight fitting lid bring 14 oz. (1 3/4 cups) of water to a boil.
2. Add 1 Tbsp butter (optional) and package of Alessi Farro Four Cheese. Stir while boiling for one minute.
3. Cover saucepan tightly.  Reduce heat to simmer and cook undisturbed for 20 minutes.
4. Let stand uncovered for three minutes. Fluff and serve.
